Series Preview: UNO Hockey at Arizona State, Oct. 26-27



After a very difficult weekend, the Mavs take to the road in the first round of a four-game series with Arizona State. Arizona State, while still a new program, has made a solid start to their season, going 4-2-0. The Mavericks, on the other hand, are 0-3-1 after being swept by Notre Dame at Baxter Arena.

The Mavs are still injury-plagued, with forward Tyler Weiss out again this weekend. Maverick Head Coach Mike Gabinet was uncharacteristically pessimistic in this week's "Weekly Media Availability" session. A split on the weekend would give the Mavs their first win of the season, which is important.

On a lighter note, the NCHC shared a lighthearted exchange between Gabinet and senior forward captain Mason Morelli from the NCHC Media Days in a "Stump the Coach segment":

Both games will be broadcast live on 1180 AM (The Zone 2). Dave Ahlers will provide play-by-play and Terry Leahy will give color commentary. Coverage begins at 8:35 p.m. Central on Friday night and 8:35 p.m. Saturday night with the First National Bank Pre-Game Show.
