Defenseman Jayden Jubenvill is the only transfer joining the Mavericks this season, coming to Omaha after spending his first two seasons at North Dakota.
Omaha fans may remember his name.
Jubenvill scored the game-winning goal that ended the Mavericks’ 2024-25 season in the NCHC Quarterfinals at Baxter Arena.
Now he’s wearing an Omaha jersey.
The Road to Omaha
The 6-foot, 190-pound defenseman from Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, played two seasons with the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL before beginning his college career at North Dakota.
Jubenvill played 115 games for Dubuque, recording 13 goals and 29 assists for 42 points.
He also made an impact during the Fighting Saints’ run to the Clark Cup Final in 2023-24. Jubenvill recorded five points during the postseason and was named the USHL Conference Finals Top Defenseman after scoring twice in the series, including an overtime game-winner in the opener.
He arrived at North Dakota for the 2024-25 season and earned a regular spot in the lineup.

His Impact at North Dakota
Jubenvill appeared in 37 games as a freshman at North Dakota, recording two goals and four assists.
He led UND’s rookie defensemen in scoring and finished second on the team with a +8 rating. He also blocked 43 shots.
One of his two goals came at Omaha’s expense.
With North Dakota and Omaha tied late in the third period of the second game of the 2025 NCHC Quarterfinal series, Jubenvill jumped into the play and scored the game-winner that completed the Fighting Hawks’ sweep and ended the Mavericks’ season.
Jubenvill’s role changed during his sophomore season. He appeared in 15 games for North Dakota in 2025-26 and recorded two assists.
Across his two seasons in Grand Forks, he played 52 games with two goals and six assists.

What He Brings to Omaha
Jubenvill brings something that none of Omaha’s other newcomers have: experience playing college hockey in the NCHC.
He already knows the teams, rinks, and style of play he’ll encounter throughout Omaha’s conference schedule. He also arrives with experience playing in postseason games at both the junior and college levels.
When Omaha announced Jubenvill’s addition in April, head coach Mike Gabinet pointed to that experience — and another quality he had noticed while coaching against him.
“I have always liked his game and appreciate his competitiveness,” Gabinet said.
Jubenvill also joins a defensive corps with playing time available following the departures of Griffin Ludtke, Jacob Guevin, and Aidan De La Gorgendiere.

What We’ll Be Watching
Jubenvill played regularly as a freshman at North Dakota before seeing his playing time decrease during his sophomore season. In Omaha, he has the opportunity to take on a larger role.
The question heading into the season is what he does with that opportunity.
He’s already shown he can play regularly in the NCHC. With two years of college experience behind him and openings on the Omaha blue line, we’ll get to see what Jubenvill can do with more opportunity in Omaha.
