Series Preview: Omaha at Denver, Dec. 11-12, 2018

Sorry for the lateness of this preview. I think It's hard getting excited about a series when it's as lopsided as UNO Hockey vs. Denver. In doing my research for this weekend's games, I was treated to the statistic that DU has won the past 12 contests against the Mavs, and UNO has not scored in the last three games versus the Pioneers. Ugh.

So please forgive my pessimism as we approach this weekend's games. While Mason Morelli and Fredrik Oloffson said all the right things in the Tuesday Weekly Media Availability about how this time it will be different, the fact is that the Mavs are 6-10-2 overall and 2-5-1-0/1 in the NCHC while Denver is 12-4-2 overall and 4-4-0 in the NCHC (ranked fourth in the NCHC, tied with Miami) — and ranked #3 in the USCHO national poll. Ugh.

This could be ugly. But hey, it's hockey, and this is why we play the games, right?

One positive is Evan Weninger, who was named the NCHC Goaltender of the Week last week.
